What is a Nano ceramic film?

In the window film industry, we often hear and talk lots about the ceramic film or Nano ceramic film. What does it mean for Nano ceramic film or ceramic film? Today we will share some of our ideas as a window film manufacturer:

1.   What is Nano?

Nano is actually a unit of length. One nanometer is equal to one millionth of a millimeter. It is so small. When a material reaches the nanometer scale, light, electricity, magnetism, force, etc. will appear special properties completely Different with the original material. Using this special property, material applications will achieve more application value and added value. This technology has developed rapidly in the past two decades.

2.   What is Ceramic?

In window film industry, ceramic means a material or technology applied to a film to enable it with certain features such as heat resistance. So ceramics here means- or generally refers to a new type of material that makes the average particle size (D50) of the material less than 100 nanometers through various means and technologies. The main material is Nanometer cesium-doped tungsten oxide powder. Ceramic can be various kinds of rare inorganic material like Tungsten mentioned above or Titanium nitride, which are fine processed to Nano size and then evenly distributed onto to PET base film. This Nano material gives the PET film new features such as spectrum selectivity, heat rejection, and anti-glare.

Nano-Cesium-Doped Tungsten Oxide: It is one of the semiconductor materials with the highest spectral selectivity found to date. It is characterized by a high transmittance to visible light and a strong barrier in the near infrared region. The special properties of this material can completely replace expensive magnetron sputtering and other technologies, and are used for special needs such as solar film production, near-infrared identification, and near-infrared hot-melt processes.

Ceramic film has features such as

  1. Heat Rejection: Nano ceramic film is highly effective at blocking infrared (IR) radiation from the sun, which is responsible for heat buildup inside vehicles and buildings. By rejecting a significant portion of IR rays, nano ceramic film helps keep interiors cooler and more comfortable.

  1. UV Protection: Nano ceramic film blocks harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun, which can cause fading and damage to vehicle interiors, furniture, and flooring. By reducing UV exposure, this film helps preserve the interior’s appearance and extends the lifespan of furnishings.

  1. Glare Reduction: The ceramic particles in the film help to diffuse sunlight, reducing glare and enhancing visibility for drivers and occupants. This improves comfort and safety, especially during daytime driving or when working in brightly lit spaces.

  1. Optical Clarity: Nano ceramic film offers excellent optical clarity, maintaining a clear view through windows without distorting colors or visibility. This ensures that the appearance of windows remains natural and unobstructed.

  1. Durability: Nano ceramic film is known for its durability and resistance to fading, discoloration, and bubbling over time. Its advanced construction allows it to withstand exposure to harsh environmental conditions, ensuring long-lasting performance.

nano ceramic film is a popular choice for automotive, residential, and commercial applications due to its superior heat rejection, UV protection, glare reduction, optical clarity, and durability.
